DROWNING POOL Interviewed By BACKSTAGE ENTERTAINMENT (Video)
July 26, 2013Jeremy Lafrentz of Backstage Entertainment conducted an interview with vocalist Jasen Moreno and bassist Stevie Benton of Texas heavy rockers DROWNING POOL before their July 24 concert at the Bourbon Theatre in Lincoln, Nebraska. You can now watch the chat below.
DROWNING POOL recently posted video footage online taken on the group's third USO tour, which brought them to play for U.S. troops stationed in the U.K. on May 3 and Germany on May 5 and May 7. In addition to the performances, the members of the band participated in meet-and-greet events, signed autographs and spent time listening to servicemen and women's tales of being deployed overseas.
This was the first DROWNING POOL USO tour for Moreno, who joined the group last year following the departure of Ryan McCombs.
The band also played for more than 20,000 troops in 2005 and 2006 at bases in Kuwait, Iraq and Germany.
DROWNING POOL has also worked with veterans groups, including the Wounded Warrior Project and the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA),to help soldiers returning home, as drummer Mike Luce told The Pulse Of Radio a while back: "We've gone over there, we've played shows in Iraq, Kuwait, Afghanistan, South Korea, Germany, Guantanamo Bay, you know, and then the USO as well, it's all good stuff. To us it makes sense, you know. We're just four guys that got lucky to be in a band together, and after playing for the troops overseas we just felt we could do a little bit to help out, without getting on a soapbox and preaching to people."
DROWNING POOL invited military personnel from their hometown of Dallas to a record release party in April for the band's fifth album, "Resilience". All proceeds were donated to the USO.
